Characteristic Intervals

These are the intervals that characterize a scale.
In case of the chromatic scale, parent to all other scales, these intervals are the Major and Minor 2nd, 3rd, and 5th such that there are six CI’s

m2, M2, m3, M3, P5, TT

that form the basis of steps, skips, and jumps.
